One of the end points of the Appalachian trail is just north of Atlanta on Springer mountain. This is either the beginning or the end, depending on which way you are traveling, of the a 2160-mile footpath that extends from Georgia to Maine. Before you get to Springer mountain, most hikers begin their trek using the approach trail that starts at Amicalola Falls. Several years ago I hiked the approach trail and all of Georgia before getting picked up in North Carolina. It was a wonderful trip that I would love to do again and keep going.
I am not much of a nature photographer so I apologize in advance. The park was packed with people so it was hard to get anything really interesting of the falls without including a bunch of people in the shot.
