52:500c – Week 47 – Finding Nemo

Nope, we’re not at Toronto’s Ripley’s Aquarium, plus I don’t think a 25-Speed film would work well in the space. And while this post will be devoid of lost clownfish on animated adventures, it does have one of my favourite short hikes in my area, and I got to share it with my favourite person, Heather. Mount Nemo offers some of the best views from the Niagara Escarpment in the area, with a sweeping view of Milton, and on a clear day downtown Toronto. Plus you don’t have to walk too far to get these views.

Of course Heather and I didn’t just go for the views, we swung around one of the trail loops, crawling over rocks and trees. Past fissures in the rock, sadly we didn’t find the cut off to see the old quarry. But I did catch some views of the old ruins that can be found just off the main path from the parking lot. And the weather the day we went was perfect. Not too cold, bright sunny day and we had just had coffee with Grandpa Cantalo with some treats, so a hike was in order.

And while I would have loved to include some more of Halton Region’s conservation areas, being this close to the end I might be able to fit in one or two more before the project’s end. And hopefully, we’ll get some decent snow here in Southern Ontario so I can at least have some of that to round out the year. Man, we’re almost done…
