Week 44: Getting a Sandwich

So for this week I shot a roll of Kodak Portra 400 BW in the Holga.  That’s right Portra but in Black & White a relatively rare discontinued film.  I shot this during a lunchtime walk from the office to get a sandwich, I thought I would document what I saw on the way, they are in order of the route, admittedly the last couple are a slight detour.

I like the results but in hindsight may have been better in a camera where I had a bit more control of exposure.  See what you think.

  1. A great series. Portra 400 in B&W? Hadn’t been aware of that film before.

I worked at the Museum of London for 4 years in the 80s but did not take many personal photos and regret that these days – so much to see within a few minutes walk or tube ride. I did take about 25,000! images documenting the digs I worked on, but don’t have access to any of those shots.

    • This was the first I had heard of the film as well. You are right there so much to see in this area, must have looked so different back then.

      • There were an awful lot of holes in the ground that we were working in (there were 500 of us on site and in the lab at the peak of this boom). Dozens of cranes on the skyline. And still a few old bomb sites that were just being developed, even including one close to the Barbican. I haven’t been back since 1990, so it would be interesting to see how it looks now.
