My hope is these images capture the beauty and solemnity of life on the Island of Sao Miguel.  Tourists are just scarce enough to cause people to peer out from the stoop to evaluate the newcomers.  This is a combination of different films.  Portra 160, Ektar 100 and Velvia 50 are shown. 8/52 The Mountains of Sao Miguel

The mountains of Sao Miguel are a breathtaking product of volcanic fury.  The building shown is an abandoned hotel overlooking the island from a beautiful vantage point.  These images were shot with a Leica M3 and a 50mm Summicron.  The landscapes were mostly shot using the peculiar Leica polarizing filter.  It flips up for viewing…
